We talked about 3 different ways that saving power will help you have a much better life.
Energy bills are some of the biggest bills at home. With all of the electronic devices, large and small appliances, heating and air conditioning, and of course video games… our homes are using energy all day, every day.
One of our Live Well Tips was all about energy saving in your home.

By changing light bulbs in your home, you can save 30 – 80% on your energy bills!
Here are some other cool ways to save money by changing things in your home:
Savings don’t stop at home either. When businesses use energy efficient actions and help save power, they are able to save on their own bills. Many times, they will pass those savings on to their customers. I’m telling you, saving power is a great way to save money!
Electricity and power are created by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gases. When we cut down on the amount of power we use, we’re also cutting down on the pollution being pumped into our air.
There are a lot of different electric companies and organizations that are working to bring clean energy (called green energy) to the world. They use different things like air, water, and the sun to power things. If you have a chance to change use some of these things, you’ll be helping the environment in a big way!
Here in San Diego, San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E) has developed an Energy Innovation Center, that showcases some of the most futuristic and innovative technologies, to help people learn more about energy and conservation. You can check them out Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. San Diego, CA 92117.
The best part of saving power as a kid is to really force you to get away from the TVs, the video games, and the internet, and get out to play and discover the world around me! So get up, get out, and get moving!
