There are so many things that I want to do with my life. It changes daily, to be honest, so it was especially important that I come up with a plan to make things happen. In this episode, I shared my master plan to not only setting goals but GETTING goals accomplished.

I have a 3-step plan for making the life that you want to have for yourself. No matter what you want to do, you can make it happen if you have a plan. So let’s go.

Step 1: You have to set a goal and write it down.

Trying to do a million things at once can feel overwhelming and impossible, so the best way to move toward the life that you want, is to start with one thing at a time. That’s why you have to pick that one thing and write it down!

Live Well Tip #13

Record your thoughts in a daily journal.

Live Well Tip #87

Set a daily goal for something to aspire to.

Sometimes when I write something down it lets me look at it and remember. I want to be so many things. My mom said I can be anything I want to be but I have to have a plan. I picked one dream to write down and think about–my dream to be a TV star!

Step 2: You have to learn all you can about your goal

I went to the San Diego Central Library to learn more about my goal to be a TV star. It’s a huge building in the middle of downtown that has 9 floors and looks like a huge football. It’s super close to fun places like Petco Park, where the San Diego Padres play baseball, and you can get there from the red trolley.

Live Well Tip #7

Read a book from your neighborhood library.

The first floor of the San Diego Central Library is the home of the Denny Sanford’s Children’s Library. I went there to find books on things that would help me to live my dream of being a TV star. I had never seen this library. I asked the children’s librarian, Ms. Kelly Veyheyden, to show me the different parts of the children’s library.

They have lots of books, computers, games, toys, places where you can do art or just sit in a comfortable chair. Ms. Kelly helped me learn more about my goal. With a San Diego City Library Card, you can check out books and use the internet to research and make informed decisions.

Live Well Tip #57

Listen, research and make informed decisions.

Ms. Kelly helped me learn more about my goal by showing me different books on how to act emotions. This was great information to help me get toward my goal of being a tv star. Books are great, but there are also other great ways to get information.

I had the chance to tour a real-life news station! I went to KGTV ABC 10 News in San Diego, CA. There I met with Mr. Jason Martinez, an Emmy-award winning anchor, and reporter. He gave me awesome advice about being a TV star.

Live Well Tip #54

Find a role model or mentor.

One of the most important parts of being a news anchor is keeping up with current events for San Diego; California; the United States; and the whole world. Ms. Patty Thompson took me on a tour of the news station. I met reporters, editors, and engineers. I talked to the weatherman and got to see a map of all the freeways that showed how fast or slow the traffic was going, and a map showing the weather.

Live Well Tip #64

Keep up-to-date with current events.

Step Three: Get out there and do something.

I got to live out my dream! I recorded an interview with award-winning anchor and reporter, Virgina Cha, and a short commercial with Mr. Jason. What a great adventure!

It was fun picking a goal, learning more about it, and then doing something about it. It’s just like what the great philosopher (and musician), LL Cool J said, “Stay focused, go after your dreams, and keep moving toward your goals.”
